We non-athletes could not imagine just how hard they have prepared for the Olympics. Many of them have devoted at least four years of hard work. Instead of just partying around and spending their time doing regular work without undergoing the pain and suffering that athletes usually go through, they did the opposite for their country and their family. It’s hard to not feel emotional while watching them even on TV.

The problem is that the rewards for athletes are not so apparent (lottery grants aside) until they have actually achieved something (perish the thought), obviously footyball pays immediately, win or lose, top or bottom, good or bad!!

Packed stadium maybe, but the majority of the events were massively under sold to the public, nothing worse for those children that wanted to be there and be inspired.

Success as a medal haul……..GOLD!! Success at getting the public tickets………DNQ!!
