For a cheap mountain bike, the Apollo XC.26 is a good starter bike. Sold by Halfords, it is currently on sale for under £120. For £120, the bike comes with 18 Shimano gears and powerful V brakes.
My Apollo XC.26 I bought from Halfords for the snowy weather. It rides fine for the price.
Mountain bikes under £200 are geared towards a lighter riding. However, with their cross tyres, they will perform quite well on the road as well as off-road.
Like all Halfords bikes they come with free fitting and assembly and a free check up on 6 weeks. It comes in only 3 sizes, 14 inche, 17 inch and 20 inch. These sizings may be less than optimal for some users, if you are going to be doing a lot of riding, you want to make sure you get the right size. (see MTB Frame Size guide)

Apollo XC.26 is a good start but i have trek as my starting bike..it is kinda expensive though but as long as it has a good v brakes…that will be good
