Pannier Bags for Touring

Cycle touring is great fun. Recently we went to Ireland on a cycle tour, we had a support van so didn’t need panniers. But, next time, I may go without vehicle back up so I need to get some panniers for my touring bike.

If you are travelling for a few days, you will want to get some panniers with extensive capacity. If it is wet, you will need several changes of dry clothing. It is better to have too much pannier space than too little.

If you are cycling in Northern Europe, you can never rely on the weather to remain dry. Therefore, waterproof panniers are essential. In an emergency you could use plastic bags, but, it is better to have waterproof pannier bags for serious touring.

When packing, be strict. Don’t take unnecessary things, but, it is always good to have enough dry clothes.
