Viner Bikes
Viner bikes is an Italian company founded by VIviano NERosi in 1947, Viviano’s family still run and own the company today. They sponsored many leading pro teams such as Mapei until 2002. In 2002, they decided to keep a lower profile in the pro cycling sector in order to protect their image from the ongoing drug scandals, endemic in the sport at the time. They continue to sponsor smaller and local teams such as Agiskoviner in the UK.
Viner bikes are still handmade in Italy using frame technologies from Carbon fibre to aluminimum, Titanium and Steel.
Custom Made Frames
A notable feature of Viner bikes, is that they can be custom ordered and custom built to the specific needs of customers. Sometimes when buying a time trial bike, there is a lack of choice in frame size and customisations. If you are willing to wait 1-2 months, Viner will custom build your bike to your specifications. There are also off the peg bike sizes for people who want to buy straight away.

Cervelo P3 in action
Cervelo P3 is one of the most sought after time trial bikes. It is designed with great attention to aerodynamics. One of its most noticeable features is the curved down tube, which curves around the back wheel. This helps to reduce the aerodynamic drag of the frame.
The frame is carbon fibre. Cervelo P3 is lightweight, but, as the manufacturers state, low weight isn’t everything. They state they have worked hard to ensure the lightness is compatible with stiffness and rigidity so the power is channelled into the back wheel.
Features of Cervelo P3

May 28th, 2008 — time trial
When Choosing a time trial bike, the key criteria is the aerodynamics. It is wind resistance that makes the biggest difference in a time trial bike. Losing weight is good, but, especially for flat time trials, weight is much less important than aerodynamics. Therefore a beginner to time trials should not feel obliged to fork out several thousands of pounds. You will notice the biggest difference by getting a low pro frame and tribars which bring the arms closer in.
