Buying a lightweight seat post, is one of the best ways to upgrade your bike. You can save considerable weight, for a relatively low cost. Not all of the light seat posts are carbon fibre, some aluminium seat posts can be pretty light too, so don’t automatically turn your nose up at none carbon fibre.
FSA SL-K Carbon Seat Post

The FSA K Light Force Carbon Seat Post. is a stiff one piece carbon fibre production, available either in straight or set back for different riding position. It’s state weight is 220grams, so not much different to the cheaper model.
3T Dorico Ltd Carbon Seat Post
Not a well known name in the cycling world. Nevertheless, this is a very light weight carbon fibre seat post, at a reasonable price. Weight: 162g (for 31.6mm x 280m size) Top two clamps are a strong plastic. 3T Dorico for 135
Thompson Elite Aluminium Seat Post
Proof you don’t need carbon fibre to be lightweight. The Thompson weighs 180 grams for road version (250 length) and 228 grams for MTB version. At recommended price of 70 it is good value.

All seat posts come with a recommended length that must be kept in bike frame. If you have less than recommended length, it risks cracking stem or stressing bike frame.
Cutting Seat Posts.
If you are a real weight weanie, you might want to cut your seat post, so that just the minimum length is sitting in frame. So long as you know you won’t be raising your seat post, this is a cheap way to save some weight. Take care cutting carbon fibre. (cutting carbon fibre)
