Last year, 2007 was quite a quiet year for me. I won 2 time trials and came 7th in National Hill Climb Championship. This year I am trying to motivate myself to do more races and hopefully enter a couple of National Championships.
My main target will be the National hill climb championships in the end of October, I will be hoping to improve on 7th place, I think a top 3 position is achievable. This means my most intense interval training will be in September and October.
Time trials June and July. I would also like to try and get some new personal best in time trialling. I will start training for time trials in April and May, hoping to get really fit for June and July.
Winter Training.
For the next 2 months I will work on base training. Riding at upto 80% of heart rate for 1-3 hours at a time.
Early Season Hilly’s
If my training goes well, I may enter a few early season hilly’s in March. Last year I won a 31 mile hilly time trial in March. I would like to have another go.
100 Mile Time Trial
2 Seasons ago I came 4th in the National 100 mile Time trial championship, it was the first and last 100 mile Time trial I have ever done. I would like to try and find time to do another 100 this year. It just requires the discipline to find some 4 hour training slots.
Thanks David, Out of interest which club are you in?
phew …. my aim is to get on a bike this year!
after nearly a 30 yr lay off (except daily commute) i am committing myself to a flying return (maybe not flying).
however, in organising all the kit i can understand why the average age of the club (members) i am returning to is between 50 and 60 -it is the cost.
it is probably the amount of cars on the road also.
my last race (a 25 – 1.00.14 at age 19 (on a proper bike, when men were men…)) was in 1980. you were still able to spot the tarmac on the roads. not quite the same story now though.
lets hope that petrol goes up to £5 a litre
keep up the good work
