Ned Boulton and How Cavendish Won the Green Jersey

Ned Boutlon, the presenter for ITV4′s tour de France coverage has brought out a new e-book - How Cav Won the Green Jersey - dispatches from the 2011 Tour. For those who enjoy Ned’s commentary and recent book How I won the Yellow Jumper this looks another humorous look at the Tour de France from Ned’s perspective as a time squeezed journalist. When I first got interested in the tour de France, it was mostly through the filter of Ned Boulton and Phil Liggett’s commentary. Less idiosyncratic than the Eurosport alternative of David Duffield, it was nevertheless quite entertaining – I would never have guessed Ned didn’t know much about cycling when he started.

How I won the yellow Jersey, I would recommend for those looking for an humorous and entertaining look at the Tour de France and cycling in general. It is written with good humour and self-depreciating wit. Ned’s background (as a former football hack) makes it especially accessible. You will enjoy reading it

There is an interview at the Guardian here with Ned Boulton talking about his new book. (The good thing is I also now have a new joke for my Yorkshire website about ‘e-books’  ’eye lad it’s a good un.’)

2011 Tour de France

The 2011 Tour de France was probably the best tour in recent memory. In many ways it revitalised my interest in pro-cycling. Even the Contador saga couldn’t overshadow the exciting racing. Review of 2011 Tour de France
