Cycling in Mallorca

Mallorca is the largest island of Spain. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and part of the Balearic Islands (Catalan: Illes Balears, Spanish: Islas Baleares). Like the other Balearic Islands it is noted for its good climate and is a popular tourist destination, throughout the year. It is particularly popular with cyclists, especially in the spring when the weather is not too hot, but, significantly warmer than Northern Europe.

Some of the many advantages to taking a cycling holiday to Mallorca.

  • Over 1,000km of roads, with very light vehicular traffic.
  • Good Climate. i.e. mostly warm and dry (take the UK weather and think of the opposite)
  • Considerate drivers. Drivers are used to seeing cyclists on the road. You will not get piped at by impatient drivers for driving two abreast
  • Mixture of flat roads around the coast and mountainous climbs.

  • Local delicacies include almonds, tomatoes, sardines and olives
