Rudy Project TT Series

Last Saturday, I was racing in a Rudy Project time trial series near Worcester. The course was 33 miles with one fairly substantial hill. It makes a nice change from racing up and down dual carriageways, though on these country roads there is always the occupational hazard of getting stuck behind a slow moving tractor and white vans doing 3 point turns on a narrow country lane – but, what can you do? The hilly nature of the course, requires a more measured ride because your rhythm is broken by the change in pace and undulation. This distance seems the worst for lactic acid accumulation, you feel pretty sick afterwards. The hardest thing was actually driving up to Yorkshire straight after the race. My legs were so tired, it was hard work keeping them on the accelerator for 200 miles.

The men’s event was won by Matt Bottrill. I finished 9th. The Women’s event was won by Olympic gold medalist, Wendy Houvenaghal and the disabled event was won by Great Britain paralympic gold medalist,
Simon Richardson so it was nice to be riding amongst quite a few international riders.

Glad you enjoyed your tt in Worcestershire. The course you were on is the first half of the beacon little mountain 39.5 mile tt course. The second half is much, much harder wih Stamford bank and Ankerdine. You should do it next year, it would be a course that you would o really well on.
