After racing on the A1 dual carriageway early on Sunday morning, the afternoon could hardly have been different. Travelling further up north we visited the small village of Grantchester – a small village on the outskirts of Cambridge. The idyllic retreat was visited by many famous writers such as Rupert Brooke, Virginia Woolf and the economist John Maynard Keynes. On a beautiful summers day, there were many cyclists enjoying a family outing. I couldn’t help reflect on the complete contrast with the racing early in the morning. Anyway, many families seemed to be enjoying the relaxed cycle along the River Cam towards this unspoilt village.
