Cycling is one of the most photogenic sports. It is one of the few sports where the backdrop is constantly changing. (in fact my mother says the scenary of the Alps and Pyranees is best thing about the Tour de France on telly)
Like any sport photography, it’s not easy capturing the best shots of really fast action up to 40-50mph.
This is a classic track shot. The cyclist is in focus with a blurring around the edges capturing the speed and drama of a track sprint. This is Victoria Pendleton from Manchester Velodrome.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Lance Armstrong was the most photographed sportsman of the last decade. For me, this is the classic Armstrong shot. Steely determination in the mountains.
