Snow Bike – A foot of snow in Oxford and this bike is practically covered in snow

Riding through the sludge

There is a saying that you will never regret buying a bike. I had a great time on my new mountain bike I bought yesterday.

The first thing you really notice is how slow mountain bike with fat wheels are. The second thing is how much better it is for dealing with snow and ice. There is a great feeling of stability compared to thin 23″ road tyres.

Even a mountain bike can still be tricky. Underneath the snow there is some icey patches which can be treacherous. I imagine it will get worse before it gets better – over the next few days there will be more thawing and freezing.

I cycled through South Parks, it’s pretty tough making any ground on freshly fallen snow. But, I got some great shots of

Oxford in the snow.
