Last week I was training in the Cotswolds. I was waiting to turn right, a car was signalling left. So you expect the car to turn left at your junction. The temptation is to move out and turn right. But, when cars signal, they may not always turn where they are going.
I noticed the car wasn’t slowing down so pulled back from turning right. The car was actually signalling left for a garage another 200 metres up the road. But, it just shows how accidents can occur, if you’re looking to cut a few corners.
Both cyclists and motorists often fail to signal at all. This can be frustrating, especially in city centres where you are trying to anticipate where cars may be going.
But, what can you do? you just have to wait to see their actual line, and not rely on signals.
