Cycling for Softies

Don’t fancy rolling around in the mud of cyclo cross or tackling Kirkstone Pass the steep way? Are you bemused by lycra clad, out of breath, shaven legs cyclists speeding past? Is your idea of a good cycle ride, two miles around a lake? Would you like a cycle hire scheme which enables the you to hire a bike at the top of the hill and leave it at the bottom? Do you own an electric bike without any shame? Did you spend more on the most comfortable saddle than the rest of the bike put together? Do you see cycling as something to be enjoyed rather than something to punish yourself with?

If you are answering yes to these questions, you could be one of those cyclists who take great pleasure in cycling. For you cycling is something to be enjoyed, treasured – an experience of relaxation; if you can make cycling more comfortable you will. To the boy racer or cool fixed speeder, you are considered a cycling softy because you seek to make cycling easier and more enjoyable rather than a masochistic exercise for improving muscle tone on your sleek slender shaven legs. But, each to his own. Don’t feel guilt for cycling at walking speed and keeping your bike in garage at first sign of rain.

. Whenever my mother sees me after a long ride, she is disgusted by the trails of dried snot down the side of the face, from failed attempts to snort it out whilst on the move. Cycling need not be a reason to have a dirty face, keep a handkerchief in your top pocket, much more civilised than seeing if you can snot into the ditch.

Electric Bikes Cycle for you! Tired of going into the wind? don’t like the look of that incline? Sit back, take your feet of the pedals and let the genius of electricity do it for you. Why didn’t anyone think of this earlier? Why do some people turn up their noses at the thought of an electric powered bike? I mean you wouldn’t want to power your car through getting all passengers to pedal away in the back seat.

Suspension. Want to make cycling more comfortable? Here’s what you can do:
Front suspension, rear suspension, seat suspension, extra double padded saddle. Top of the range Assos padded cycle shorts. Take a little air out of tyres, and make sure they are nice and wide.
