Training Schedule 2010

This weekend I am away in New York, so will have no races. Then there are just three weeks until the last race of the season. Already, I’ve reduced the training load. More by accident than design. Last week, I didn’t spend too long on the bike.
Monday was a rest day (bad back)
Tuesday was just 10 miles (slight muscle strain in calf)
Wednesday I did three hard sessions up boars hill as fast as I could.
Thursday, I rode up Brill hill as fast as I could.
Friday, I rode up Boars Hill again as fast I could. But, couldn’t really do that much.

I don’t usually do three days intervals in a row. But, had this planned as a hard week before starting to reduce load.

In New York, I’ve only been out twice, despite good weather.
I get back to Oxford next week.

Last two races will be Bristol South CC (Burrington Combe) and Huddersfield CC if I can get entry in on time.

The rest of my training will probably involve riding up a few hills at race pace a couple of times or just even once, and then taking easy days in between.

I’ve written quite a few articles on the plane, so some more posts on winter training e.t.c will be coming soon.

Looking forward to those. I have just taken up cycling from running, and just completed my first sportive The Rut only 74 mile but I wanted to get a feeling for the sport. Having purchased the books you suggested I have prepared a training program for the winter. Including Base endurance /the build phase, and transition phase. Included are exercises in the Gym to develop a strong core build leg muscle etc and that has started. My main goal to do a 100 mile sportive first, followed by the C2C and back later in the year. A mini goal, I have a hill that until now I only fly down as my training draws to the end I’m going to attack it from the bottom to the top. Keep up the good work on your blog I find it so interesting the way you mix a bit of fun with serious stuff I always look forward to your posts so thank you……Lee
