Bike Trailers for Transporting Children Photos

I always get great joy to see children on bikes. In today’s society there is great fear of accidents and there is a desire to protect children in cotton wool. But, these carriers for Children are a very environmentally friendly way of transporting children to school. I wish more parents had the courage to transport their kids like this! (also cheaper than driving by car). The carrier in the above photo looks like a .

I have to admit that the child is a little more vulnerable in a bike trailer than being encased in a steel box of a car. But, it would do wonders for rush hour traffic if more children were transported like this.

Tandem Trailer for Children

The other type of children transport by bike, is to fix an add on to the bike like a tandem so the child can cycle at the same time. This gives the child exercise in getting to school. It is also referred to as a tag along trailer. It allows children to take part and pedal.

In this photo, the child is placed on a seat in front of the adult riding a bike. Does leave less room for manoeuvring your own arms.

    NEED HELP FINDING A COMPANY.
About 20 years ago when I lived in Brechin, I bought a trailer bile for my son from a company in England. I saw an ad in a magazine. It had a chain and he could peddle it. It was very well built, and did not connect at the seat stem or to the rear tyre. It connected to a special rear rack that came with it. It pivoted like a trailer on a car would and that made it a lot easier to handle. I had it for about 10 years before I sold it here in the states. My husband (didn’t have him back then) and I are moving to the Marshal Islands (bikes only there, no cars) and he is making a cargo trailer for our bikes. Does anyone know the name of the company or have a photo of the connection area? I can’t expalin how it connected that well to hubby. I always loved that design better then anything else I tried. My son and I got thousands of hours of fun with it before he out grew it and passed it on.
