Kettering CC 10 mile TT

Saturday was a 10 mile TT organised by Kettering CC – the Frank & Joy Sheppard Memorial 10 mile TT.

Despite a ‘sporting course’ i.e. a few hills and slow, it was quite popular with 82 entrants. There were quite a few different categories with some people racing on road bikes, 2up time trials and even Mountain bikes. It was a well supported event with lots of marshalls and signs saying how many miles left. The race was in honour of two club Frank & Joy Sheppard stalwarts who loved cycling. It reminded me of Otley CC and the traditional post war British club scene.

The wind was in the wrong direction (I guess it always is) so it was a tough ride. Though the last half was fast with a downhill and tailwind section. I finished 1st in a time of 21.55. I quite like the roads around Old and Mawsley. I did a 20 mile TT around here earlier in the year.

R25/3L

Sunday was a very different kind of race. The super fast R25/3L course in South Wales. I did a new pb of 49.31 (30.3mph) for 25 miles organised by Methyr Tydfill. It was 6th. Michael Hutchinson did 46.41. Julia Shaw broken a new competition record for women, finishing in 50.00!
