Oxonian CC 31 Mile Hilly Time Trial

Time Trial Bike (Steel Frame)

Yesterday was my first race of the year. A 31 mile hilly time trial around Brill, Oakley and Ascott. It was great weather for an early season race. Low wind, good temperature and not a spot of rain in sight. I came 3rd in a time of 1.16.14. The event was won by Danny Axford (Arctic Shorter) in a course record of 1.12.00. Second was James Stewart (Kinesis KUK) 1.12.17. (results CTT)

It’s a good course, with several quite hilly sections which test your climbing and technical skills. There’s also a section of about 6 miles on a flat smooth A road, before a final killer climb to the finish at the top of Brill by the windmill.

I enjoyed my first race and it makes you motivated to do more training and try and get faster. The only drawback was my knee was a little sore today, so I will rest for a few days. The other thing about the race was how much lactic acid accumulated in the body. When I ate 3 hours later I could still taste the lactic acid in my stomach urgh!

Tejvan have you ever did a spiro test. I’m curious what’s your VO2Max, Watts/Kg and max speed @ wattage. It would be a great post ;)
