This bank holiday weekend I had three races in four days.
The first was on Friday morning. A 10 mile time trial organised by High Wycombe CC. I finished 10th out of a strong field of 90. My time was 22.11. The event was won by Richard Prebble in 21.23.
Saturday was a 30 mile hilly time trial around Stokenchurch, Henley and Marlow. I was going really well until the last hill where I punctured three miles from finish. With tubulars, you can just about ride around with a puncture. You do risk damaging your wheel (I had a disc wheel on) and the road surface was pretty bumpy. Anyway, because I was going well I just kept going and finished in first place 1.09.30

It’s hard to know how much time you lose from a puncture over 4 miles. Maybe one minute to two minutes.
Sunday was a rest and then on Monday was a 50km hilly time trial organised by Alton CC. It was windy and tough on the long upward drag into the wind. I finished in second place (1.13.25), just nine seconds behind the winner S.Walkling VC ST Raphael. Results on a flikr picture
A good weekend’s racing, now off to New York for two weeks
If you have a full carbon disc, you can still trash it on tubs. Nick Gardiner wrote off a Corima disc that way, did the last +5 miles of a 50 on a flat tub – the disc had completely delaminated by the time he got back to the HQ.
sounds like you are going well! How about entering the beacon little mountain time trial? It would really suit you..
