Stuck In New York

I’m currently in New York on a ten day holiday. I’ve been doing a bit of training on my 1981 Trek 2nd hand bike from ebay.

track

The local track near Flushing Meadow Park.

I don’t go far, but, try to maintain fitness riding around a bumpy outdoor track near Flushing Meadow and doing a few short hill intervals next to a hospital on 205 Street.

Alas, the Icelandic Volcano is throwing the whole transatlantic travel into confusion with the potential for week long delays. I’m supposed to be travelling Saturday evening but it looks pretty doubtful at moment. I don’t mind missing work for a week, but, I’ve got an entry for the U47 10 mile time trial on Saturday, which I would really like to get to.

Bummer. Still, not a bad place to be stranded.

When I was there last September there seemed to be quite a cycling scene in Central Park, although you have to stick to the main routes.
