There is nothing I find more intimidating than the idea of spending an hour on an indoor turbo trainer. I haven’t used mine all year. I would rather
- a) Get wet and cold or
- b) Not go out
Two years ago, I was on holiday for 3 weeks with no bike. The hotel had an exercise bike. I must have spent about 5 minutes for the entire duration of the holiday. I’ve written a post on turbo training – but, its more theoretical than practical – I just don’t like using it. I know some people will do all their interval training on a turbo – I can only admire them from a distance.
Anyway, this article in the Independent suggests the ultimate exercise bike [ link ] – For a mere £6,000 – you can have a simulated ride with cornering, gear changes and a screen to show you were you are riding. I think even I would be able to enjoy riding that. However, if it was me I wouldn’t be spending £6,000 on a virtual bike….
