What was the best Christmas present you received?
My first Christmas present which turned out to be a good job was this a cheap pair of socks, cunningly made into some very cheap, but excellent armwarmers. Cost £1 from the Pound shop. (We always get a stocking of presents from the local Pound Shop) Father Christmas is actually a Yorkshireman. I would never wear the socks, but these made excellent armwarmers.
All you need to do is cut off the ends of the socks.
At this time of the year, you don’t really need full length armwarmers, because you usually have a few long sleeved T-Shirts.. But (especially if you’re tall and gangly) you have exposed arms between gloves and end of long-sleeved undershirts. These fill in the gap very nicely.
The second good Christmas present was a long sleeved Altura – Merino wool long sleeved jersey.
I enjoyed wearing it on the cold, damp winter rides. It has superb wicking qualities and even at the end of the ride feels very dry. If you’re going touring it has the added advantage of smelling much less than the usual wicking layers. Less need for washing. Definitely noticeable improvement in inner dryness. Also very comfortable. 100% Merino wool £35 so not cheap but worth it. An excellent Christmas present as you might choose a cheaper version if you buy it yourself.
- ALTURA 2012 Men’s Merino Base Layer from Amazon
I was very dissappointed that Santa didn’t bring me this rain cap
- Assos S7 Rain Cap total cost. $15,918.41
I like the way they added 41 cents. I mean I would have bought it, but those 41 cents. I wonder if it is just a marketing gimmick to create the most expensive item and get people to link to it. It makes my Assos shorts look positively cheap.
But, I did get this bicycle horn, so I can out toot even a white van now.
