You can tell a serious cyclist by the way, he is bound to have a strong opinion on the relative merits of Shimano vs Campag. If you look on some cycling forums you can see pages and page of endless debate about which is better. Both have their supporters, but, to be honest, the difference is not actually that much. Both have been developed along similar lines, and there’s not too much to choose between them.
