Since the UCI made safety helmets compulsory there has been an increased interest in safety helmets. Although the CTT has not yet made helmets compulsory, many time trialists are opting for a safety helmet. It is likely that safety helmets will be made compulsory in the future, and the aerodynamic cost is relatively low. It is true that although they may weigh perhaps 150g more than a non aero head fairing, this weight difference is not particularly significant for a time triallist.
Aero helmets that I have tried include:

Bell Meteor Review
- Bell Meteor II Aero TT weight is 356 grams, making it one of the lightest legally racing helmets on the market. It is also very well ventilated, much better than the 1st generation aero helmets
- Giro Aero Helmets
- LAS Chrono helmet
- Rudy Project Syton Open Aero Cycle Helmet 2007 £99.99 Weight 348gm
- Lazer Chrono 3 Aero Cycle Helmet 2006 £124.95
