Different Places to Cycle

Different Places to Cycle

A narrow residential road in Oxford with traffic calming measures, gets narrower further up. Wide enough for three cars (two parked) in theory slows cars down. Can be a tight squeeze at times. A much nicer place to cycle – along the Thames cycle path. An overhead shot Bike by South Parks and St Clements

A Tough Day in Saddle

Sunday was a 100 Mile Time trial organised by West D.C, I think a lot were from Severn R.C. It’s a good course, and well marshalled. There was also an excellent free drinks service. So you could shout your number and pick up your bottle 100 metres down the road. Thanks very much to those […]

Cycling in Dark Clothes

Cycling in Dark Clothes

blending in with surroundings is not entirely the best strategy for cycling in busy cities, but, it does often seem to be the most popular. I was stuck in Marston getting an Ipod adapter fitted to my car, so I was taking a few photos. Not too many cyclists about, probably because it was raining […]

Why Does It Always Rain When I Do Intervals?

Why Does It Always Rain When I Do Intervals?

This week has been fairly light in terms of training volume, but, high in terms of intensity. Just two rides so far – Tuesday and Thursday. Each day was heading off to ride up a few hills as fast as I can. I have timed myself up many hills with cycling distance of Oxford. Tuesday […]

Speed Cameras Switch Off

It can be pretty dangerous when you’re doing a time trail at 30mph. But, overall speed cameras, in the correct place, can help reduce speed and […]

Don’t fancy rolling around in the mud of cyclo cross or tackling Kirkstone Pass the steep way? Are you bemused by lycra clad, out of breath, shaven legs cyclists speeding past? Is your idea of a good cycle ride, two miles around a lake? Would you like a cycle hire scheme which enables the you […]

A Mixed Weekend

Saturday was a round of the Rudy Project Time Trial series. 33 Lumpy miles near Worcester, well organised by Wye Valley CC. I was pleased to finish 4th senior men in a time of 1.17:11. Just behind Jeff Jones in 3rd Place. It is a shame these ‘sporting courses’ are less popular than fast dual […]
